About the Electives Programme

**NUS Medicine has suspended the Electives Programme for clinical elective opportunities from now till end of September 2021 due to COVID-19. This suspension is applicable to students who are currently overseas. For Singaporean students who are currently in Singapore and looking to do a clinical posting with NUSMed, please email medelectives@nus.edu.sg for more info. As the situation continues to evolve, information on the Special Clinical Electives will be updated on this website.**

Dear Student

Thank you for your interest in pursuing a clinical posting in Singapore under our Special Clinical Electives Programme.

You will have the opportunity to join our NUS Medicine students from Years 3 to 5 for full–time clinical postings from Mondays to Fridays. Attendance on Saturdays and Sundays are not necessary unless required by the Department that you are posted to. You may be required to attend lectures and tutorials, subject to the Department's advice.

English is the medium of instruction and the language used for patient care in the relevant hospitals. Upon the completion of each posting, your supervisor would have provided an evaluation of your performance using the posting assessment form provided by National University of Singapore and by your own university (if any).

In addition, we would like to inform you that the Dean's Office at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine will not endorse any documents from your University or any other special request forms containing statements like “the student has had the same rights, duties, responsibilities like the regular medical students of the University…” or with similar meanings. We have been advised by our legal counsel to discontinue the practice of acknowledging these forms, in view of possible legal implications.

We will provide students with the Letter of Completion at the end of their final posting. In addition, the posting assessment form can be sent to the student’s University upon request, with the exception of those who have been instructed by their University to collect their form personally.

You are advised to read the detailed information provided before applying to the Special Clinical Electives Programme. Failure to comply with application procedures may result in not being scheduled and incomplete applications will not be processed.

Information on the eligibility, posting opportunities, application requirements and other key matters, can be found on this website.

Please feel free to contact us via email at , if you have any further queries.

We look forward to receiving your application.

Yours Sincerely

Dean’s Office
