Objectives
The course is designed to provide participants’ comprehensive learning and hands-on experience on pediatric refraction and myopia monitoring through a hybrid pedagogy of in-depth lecture and hands-on in-person workshops. Through the course, participants will learn about the visual development in children and their expected refractive power based on age, develop effective communication skills while examining paediatric patients and advising parents on their children's myopia, understand the important indicators of myopia progression and evaluate refractive error using cycloplegic and non- cycloplegic fogging refractive methods in real patients. The lecture content will be accompanied by in-person clinical workshop which will allow the students to apply what they have learnt from the lecture on paediatric patients. A short assessment will be conducted at the end of lecture component to evaluate participants’ understanding and grasp of knowledge.
