Objectives

Oral health is an important part of holistic health. The achievement of oral health requires a combination of prevention and treatment which complement one another. Oral healthcare professionals play a pivotal role in both these aspects of patient care. Effective prevention is anchored upon successful patient education which results in sustaianble behavioural and lifestyle changes which contribute to a healthy mouth. Motivational interviewing of patient engagegemnt which can be used to shape effective patient education. Through this course, participants will: 1. gain an understanding of motivational interviewing (MI) 2. understand the principles of MI 3. apply the principles of MI in patient education and behaviour modification.
