Objectives

Objectives: 1. Screen clients for common mental health conditions for holistic social work case and care planning 2. Conduct basic mental state examination (MSE) 3. Apply the Illness Causation Model in social work assessment to faciliate case planning for persons with mental health problems 4. Take appropriate actions to escalate cases with complex mental health issues and right-site clients to appropriate specialist mental health services Application: At the end of the workshop, participants are expected to be able to do the following: 1. Screen clients for common mental health conditions for holistic social work case and care planning 2. Conduct a basic mental state examination 3 .Apply the Illness Causation Model in social work assessment to facilitate case planning for persons with mental health problems 4. Take appropriate actions to escalate cases with complex mental health issues and right-site clients to appropriate specialist mental health services



Who Should Attend

1. Social workers in their first or second year of their practice. 2. Current social workers in the field who have not had basic mental health training / knowledge 3. Counsellors and case managers who work with persons with mental health problems




Entry Requirements

At least a Bachelor degree in social work, counselling, or any related human service discipline
