Objectives
This short programme provides an introduction to the essentials of public policy, covering concepts, methodologies, and tools to understand how to formulate and execute public policies with real impact, how to identify problems on the ground and what are the different approaches to distinct, yet interrelated policy issues. This course will provide a foundational understanding to the policymaking process and discuss some of the challenges to policymaking. Topics include the policy cycle and analysis; instruments for policy design; public policy evaluation; innovation, change, and transformation of public policy; implementation challenges.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the policy cycle and acquire the skills to address the challenges and demands in each stage of the policy cycle
- Acquire the political, administrative and analytical acumen needed to shape policy development and make decisions
- Adopt a comprehensive and multi-faceted approach to analysing, developing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, and communicating public policies
- Learn how to map, manage and communicate with stakeholders, organisations and the general public
