Objectives
This course is specially designed for learners to understand and examine health informatics inrelation to new healthcare technologies. An overview on the use of data analytics in the creation, system design, evaluation of these technologies, educational innovations and its societal impact on self-care, and population would be discussed. This course will provide a deeper understanding on how Consumer Health Informatics (CHI) plays a major role in providing information to patients and the public such as facilitating the promotion of self-care, enabling informed decision-making and promoting healthy lifestyle behaviors and peer information exchange. With mobile health (mHealth), medical providers can improve the diagnosis,treatment, monitoring, and health education of patients leading to increased patient engagement, improved health outcomes, and reduced costs. Point-of-care tools, such as UpToDate, provide clinicians with the latest medical information while working with patients.
