Objectives
This course will provide an overview of the key principles in commercial conflict of laws from the perspective of the law in Singapore. The course seeks to introduce the participants to the following key issues: (i) the principles based on which courts in Singapore decide whether to entertain international commercial disputes; (ii) interlocutory measures issued by courts in Singapore in the context of international commercial litigation; (iii) the different regimes according to which courts in Singapore give effect to foreign commercial judgments; and (iv) the provisions based on which Singapore courts determine the law governing the parties’ cross-border commercial disputes.
