Objectives

The 5G cellular networks will provide network performance that is significantly better than that achievable with current networks and enable connectivity as a scale that will facilitate the development of new applications and business cases. The objectives of this course are to:

Provide an understanding of the architecture, operations, and fundamental technical concepts behind cellular networks.

Familiarize the students with core and supporting technologies of 5G networks, and issues related to their deployment, operation and security.

At the end of the course, the participants will be:

Familiar with the operations and design principles 5G cellular networks

Able to qualitatively evaluate the applicability and benefits of 5G networks for application use cases
