Objectives
Given how digitalization is disrupting the world, the Singapore Government’s objective towards a Smart Nation as well as the evolving healthcare needs of Singapore, we are standing on a burning platform. The Healthcare Industry Transformation Map by MOH highlights the direction for transformation and areas of concern including the 3 Beyonds. There is an urgent need to raise the bar for patient care and healthcare outcomes through a multi-faceted approach; this would include innovations, a shift towards value-based healthcare system, as well as health informatics to sustain the continuous improvements. Current healthcare practices require healthcare professionals to be familiar with informatics, quality improvement, value driven outcomes and optimization of electronic medical records system. This is especially relevant when it involves healthcare leadership and administration. The conventional training programs for various healthcare professionals typically did not cover these areas as the learning outcomes were more focused on acquisition of clinical skills and knowledge.
In view of the above, the Executive Certificate in Healthcare Improvement via Informatics will enable learners who are employed in healthcare settings to be upskilled to meet the emerging healthcare needs of Singapore. At the same time, employers could also leverage on them to facilitate their employees’ professional development in their respective roles. After completion of the respective modules, we hope the learners will be equipped with the mind-set and skillsets to solve real problems in their respective job roles, improve efficiency in their respective domains and eventually contribute to a more sustainable healthcare system for Singapore.
