For lecture and tutorial timetable please refer to IVLE.;In a language module, it is crucial to ensure that enough practice opportunity and attention will be given to each individual student. Language is acquired through practice, individually and corporately; thus, there will be emphasize on pair or group activity in order to maximize learning. Hence, maintaining small group format will greatly facilitate this process. Once a student has been assigned to his/her respective group, s/he cannot move to a different group. This is to maintain the small group dynamic mentioned earlier. We want to avoid cases whereby some groups become larger than others because of students’ moving from group to group. Also, being punctual and consistent is crucial in language classes. If one student comes more than 15 minutes after the class starts, s/he will be counted as absent.;Learning a new language is never complete without knowing and learning about the culture of that language as this will lead to deeper understanding of the people. For this reason, the Bahasa programme has always encouraged students to explore many different aspects of Indonesian culture through various task-based projects. We require every student to work on this project for 10 hours/ semester. The purpose of these projects is to stimulate students’ interest in and appreciation of Indonesia’s diverse culture and society. In order to study a foreign language well, it is not enough to learn only from a textbook, but that students also need to make every attempt to get first-hand experience of its culture and people.;;You can view the project report done by previous classes:;http://courseware.nus.edu.sg/IM@BIP/student.htm;;MODE OF ASSESSMENT: ;100% CA = Continuous Assessment which comprises:;15% of written homework;40% of tests (2 written tests);15% of project;15% of oral exam;15% of attendance & class participation;
